BlackBerry Storm firmware upgrades available, but not on Apple Mac

Over this Thanksgiving weekend, BlackBerry released their first firmware upgrade (4.7.0.75) for the Storm and with it a bunch of fixes. There are reports that firmware upgrade (4.7.0.76) has been released too... though not to public yet. You can download the new firmware by visiting WorldWide.BlackBerry.com. But beware, this update is not for everyone. You must meet certain system requirements to be able to download this update... Apple Mac OS users might be interested to know that this update is not for them. Apple Mac is not listed under minimum system requirements.

Minimum System Requirements for Web Software Update Utility (Please note that this method of software updates is not completed "Over the Air" and does require the device be connected to a computer meeting the below minimum specifications)

  • Computer must be running Windows® 2000 or later
  • Computer must have an available USB port
  • Computer must be running Windows® Internet Explorer® 6 or 7
Note: BlackBerry smartphones that are associated with a BlackBerry® Enterprise Server or with BlackBerry® Professional Software cannot perform web-based BlackBerry Device Software upgrades.
